Hello, I'm Captain Aaron, operating out of Aberdeen, Washington. Having grown up here, I have spent over three decades fishing the southwestern waters of Washington and have been a professional guide for 14 years. I spent 15 summers commercial fishing in Alaska before transitioning to full-time guiding in 2018, after retiring from Alaska commercial fishing the previous year. My five-year-old son shares my love for fishing and occasionally joins me on trips.
I manage a fleet of three vessels: a 20' North River Scout jet sled, a 17' Pavati driftboat, and a 13' catamaran raft. My approach to fishing is relaxed, and I enjoy sharing the knowledge I've gained over the years with my clients and the future generation of anglers. Fishing remains my true passion and takes up most of my time, though I also enjoy sports like basketball, baseball, and football.
Clients can expect a fun and rewarding experience on the water, with flexibility offered regarding the trip's starting location. One recent guest mentioned how Aaron's expertise and friendly nature made the outing an enjoyable adventure for his sons, who thoroughly appreciated their time on the boat. Their experience was truly a five-star one, highlighting the joy and enthusiasm Aaron brings to every trip.
You can cancel without any fees if you do so at least 14 days prior to your scheduled trip and the amount will be credited back to your account. If you cancel within 14 days of your trip, your deposit will be retained by the guide. Cancelling on the day of the trip or failing to show up will result in the full trip cost being charged to your payment method.
For convenience, it is advised to pack your clothing and other essentials into a single bag or backpack. Snacks and beverages should be stored separately in a small cooler. Wearing waders is suggested; they are available for rent at a cost of $30 each. Since temperatures can vary, dressing in layers is ideal—mornings may be chilly while afternoons can become warm. Any fish you decide to keep will be filleted and packaged at the end of the day.
September signals the start of the fall salmon run in the rivers of the Pacific Northwest. Among the most renowned salmon waters in Western Washington is the Humptulips River. During this time, Chinook Salmon make their arrival, navigating into the lower parts of the river. Our focus will be on targeting the largest of all salmon species using bait beneath floats, as well as a variety of artificial lures such as spinners, plugs, and twitching jigs. This excursion is designed as a driftboat trip accommodating two anglers, with the possibility of fishing multiple sections of the river, depending on the water flow conditions. The Pavati driftboat I use features convenient doors for easy boarding and disembarking.
