Your Guide: Perry C.

About Your Guide

With over 45 years of fishing experience in Roatán, Honduras, Perry has a deep connection to the island’s vibrant marine life. As a child, he began hand-lining for fish and exploring the diverse habitats that Roatán offers. Nearly three decades ago, Perry began sharing his extensive knowledge with visitors, delivering unforgettable fishing adventures and earning a reputation as one of the premier guides on the island.

Roatán boasts an abundance of species including bonefish, permit, tarpon, and many others. When you join Perry on the flats, you'll have the chance to quietly approach a large group of bonefish feeding, make a precise cast, and experience the thrill of your reel pulling tight — an experience that will leave you hooked for life.

Please note that lodging options provided by Perry are separate from the fishing trip cost. If you would like to arrange accommodation, kindly mention it in the "notes" section during booking. Alternatively, there are numerous hotels and vacation rentals nearby to consider.

This was my second time fishing with Perry. The first trip was a half-day outing, and unfortunately, the tides didn’t cooperate to find fish. This time, we fished all day and spent much of it actively targeting fish. Perry is an expert who understands the fishery intimately, spots fish with ease, and offers excellent guidance to ensure a successful cast. Although I missed a few chances, including a close tarpon right next to the boat because I didn’t follow his advice, I ultimately landed four smaller bonefish and a couple of snook, plus had opportunities at permit and tarpon. It was a fantastic day on the water, and I look forward to returning.

This trip focuses on fly or light-tackle flats fishing, targeting bonefish, permit, and tarpon. Bonefish are the most frequently caught species, typically weighing between 2 to 3 pounds, with many caught exceeding 5 pounds. Anglers are usually picked up from their hotel between 5:30 and 6:00 AM, followed by a short drive to the boat launch. Fishing begins promptly at 7 AM and lasts until 11 AM for a half-day trip or until 3 PM for a full-day excursion.

The fishing adventure takes place across several productive flats on the East side of the island, including travels through mangrove areas to seek out tarpon. Transportation is provided on a small panga boat designed for two anglers, but the majority of fishing—over 90%—is done on foot in the flats.

All trips come fully equipped with fishing gear, flies, snacks, drinks, and a light lunch. Anglers are advised to bring essentials such as sun protection, sunglasses, and a camera to capture memorable moments.

Our trips are fully customizable, with a team boasting decades of experience and extensive knowledge of the island. If you have specific species you want to target or particular preferences, just let us know, and we will do our best to tailor the experience to your needs.
