My passion for fly fishing began in the trout-filled streams of the Rocky Mountains, predominantly in Colorado, where I developed my angling abilities. Despite this strong start, I always felt drawn toward the Pacific Northwest. Pursuing this interest, I earned my degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene and have been casting lines in this region ever since. While I’ve been fortunate enough to fish across the globe, the Willamette Valley and McKenzie River hold a special place in my heart. My primary focus is on salmon, steelhead, and trout in Oregon’s waterways, but I also enjoy crabbing, ocean fishing, and mushroom foraging. I offer adaptable start locations to fit your needs. Spending a day on the water with guide Matt was a fantastic experience for my son and me. Matt is not only friendly and dedicated but also possesses expert knowledge of fishing Oregon’s coastal rivers. I wholeheartedly recommend his guiding services.

Experience an exhilarating half-day fly fishing adventure on Oregon’s picturesque McKenzie River. These excursions provide approximately 4 hours of fishing on the water, with a total trip duration of about 5 hours. Our primary target will be the redside trout, a lively subspecies of the rainbow trout known for its spirited fight. Additionally, there is a chance to catch steelhead and the occasional bull trout during the trip.
We will navigate a stretch of the river in a 16-foot drift boat, encountering gentle rapids and enjoying breathtaking scenery along the way. Wildlife sightings are common, adding to the overall experience. You can choose a start time that suits your schedule, and the fishing conditions typically remain productive throughout the day.
