About Your Guide

Gilbert has spent his entire life fishing throughout the Pyrenees. Originally from France, he devoted much of his leisure and vacation time to exploring the northern Pyrenees, occasionally venturing into the Spanish side of this mountain range. Shortly before retiring, he came across the charming village of Fiscal and the incredible fishing spots found along the tributaries of the Arágon River. Gilbert's conservation-minded style of fly fishing resonated more closely with Spanish fishing regulations than those back in France, prompting him to settle in Fiscal and fully embrace his passion. Over the last five years, he has developed a strong enthusiasm for guiding guests on fly fishing excursions, eager to share the stunning landscapes, rich history, and exceptional fisheries of the Spanish Pyrenees with visitors. Your guide is happy to accommodate flexible starting points. Our trip was both enjoyable and educational — exactly what we hoped for! It turned out to be the highlight of our vacation. Everything went smoothly, and the weather was perfect. An amazing experience! We will definitely be booking again! Fantastic! Entertaining and informative. We look forward to returning!

Join Gilbert for an authentic vacation in the North of Spain, where you’ll explore stunning trout streams and picturesque 10th-century villages nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains. This all-inclusive adventure features daily meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—prepared by Gilbert and his team. If you wish to experience local cuisine, dinners can also be enjoyed at nearby town restaurants.

Day 1: Arrive in Fiscal between 3 and 5 pm. After check-in and a light snack, head out for fishing on either the Rio Ara or Rio Cinca, depending on current water conditions. You’ll be accompanied by two guides who provide support with small equipment and landing nets. Participants not fishing may choose to visit the charming town of Ainsa or enjoy a swim in Lake Mediano, weather permitting. Fishing lasts until 9 pm, followed by dinner at the lodge with the guides, or optionally at local establishments such as the Hotel Río Ara Bellosta.

Day 2: After breakfast, depart for Ordesa National Park for a day devoted to fishing in the upper Rio Ara Valley, famed as the most beautiful mountain trout fishing spot in the Pyrenees, characterized by rapid waters. Those not fishing can explore nearby villages and historic Romanesque churches dating back to the 10th century, or walk along sections of the Camino de Compostela. A picnic by the water is planned around 2 pm. Dinner will be served at Asador de Fiscal, a traditional Asada-style restaurant.

Day 3: Following breakfast, activities will be tailored to your preferences and river conditions. Fishing options include the Rio Ara, Cinca, or Gallego streams. For non-anglers, Gilbert has arranged a visit to the city of Jaca, featuring a tour of its noteworthy museum.
