Hello, I’m Captain Aaron, operating out of Aberdeen, Washington. Having grown up locally, I’ve spent more than three decades fishing the southwestern waters of Washington and have been a professional guide for 14 years. Additionally, I spent 15 summers commercial fishing in Alaska. Guiding began as a supplementary income during my commercial fishing days, but since 2018, I’ve been guiding full-time after retiring from Alaska fishing in 2017.
I have a five-year-old son who shares my love for fishing and occasionally joins me on trips. I currently run three vessels: a 20' North River Scout jet sled, a 17' Pavati drift boat, and a 13' catamaran raft. My fishing approach is relaxed, and I take great pleasure in passing on my knowledge to clients and future anglers. I am always eager to expand my understanding of fishing, which remains my true passion and occupies much of my time.
Apart from fishing, I enjoy sports such as basketball, baseball, and football. When you book a trip with me, you can expect a fun, engaging, and memorable time on the water. Clients often comment on my expertise and friendly nature, which helps make the experience enjoyable for everyone – including younger anglers like my son and others.
You can cancel your booking without any charges if done at least 14 days prior to the scheduled trip, and the amount will be credited back to your account. If you cancel within the 14-day window before the trip, your deposit will be non-refundable and given to the guide. Cancellations made on the day of the trip or no-shows will be billed for the full cost of the trip.
The weather is usually pleasant; however, it's wise to pack rain gear as a precaution. Please keep all extra clothing in a single bag, and store your food and beverages in one cooler. Alcohol is allowed, but glass containers are prohibited.
The Columbia River is home to the largest run of Fall Salmon, predominantly Chinook, along the entire west coast of the United States. Anglers from across the globe are drawn here to catch these majestic fish as they make their journey back to spawn in tributaries stretching through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and even extending into Canada.
Our fishing trip will focus on trolling with rotating flashers and lures to target these stunning salmon. Operating near Longview, Washington, we will encounter Chinook salmon heading to various destinations, including the upper Columbia and Clearwater Rivers in Idaho.
These Chinook are classified as Up River Brights (URBs), prized for their vibrant red flesh and higher fat content, making them a sought-after catch for both sport and flavor.
