During the late fall and early winter, an exciting event takes place along the beaches of the Outer Banks: Bluefin Tuna migrate up the coast and venture close to shore to feed on menhaden in shallow waters. Captain Justin, a highly skilled and experienced captain on the Crystal Coast, has been targeting these seasonal visitors for years and is eager to share this amazing fishing opportunity with you if you visit between November and December. This trip is dedicated exclusively to seeking out, battling, and landing one of the Atlantic's largest, fastest, and most impressive fish—the Bluefin Tuna—in just a few feet of water.
Your adventure with Captain Justin begins with a brief ride from the dock to the ocean surf. He provides all the necessary equipment, including premium rods and reels, trolling gear, and, most importantly, expert knowledge for handling these powerful fish. If you catch smaller keepers, Captain Justin will clean and package them for you. Please note that any Bluefin Tuna measuring 73 inches or more must be retained by the captain according to federal regulations.
On the day of your trip, you’ll fish aboard Captain Justin’s 30-foot Contender center console, an ideal vessel for locating, chasing, and catching Tuna. Powered by twin 300HP Yamaha engines, this boat ensures less time cruising and more time focused on fishing. You’ll have everything you need on board, but when it’s your turn with the rod, it’s a one-on-one challenge with the fish. To get the most out of your trip, remember to bring essentials such as polarized sunglasses, a hat, weather-appropriate clothing, sunscreen, and a camera to capture the memories.
