We enjoyed a remarkable three-hour inshore fishing adventure on Easter morning with Captain Carlo. We had an unforgettable morning fishing with Captain Carlo! Over a four-hour trip, our group of five landed more than 30 fish from nearly ten different species, including some exciting battles with bonnethead sharks (caught unintentionally!). It was a fantastic introduction to fishing for my 7-year-old son and a great time for his cousins (ages 13 and 17), my brother-in-law, and me. This fishing experience was the highlight of our Charleston trip! As a family of four with a 16-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son who love fishing, we booked a 3-hour morning excursion that exceeded all expectations. Carlo stayed in touch beforehand to advise us on what to bring, parking, and restroom availability. The boat and equipment were excellent, the bait was ready, and he patiently taught us how to cast, stepping in to help with tricky casts. Carlo’s great stories made the morning fun and engaging. We caught a variety of fish, a stingray, and even a blue crab trying to snatch bait! The trip was worth every penny, and my only regret is not booking a longer excursion. You can cancel without any charge up to 7 days prior to your trip and get a credit refunded to your account. If you cancel within the 7 days leading up to the trip, your deposit will be non-refundable and given to the guide. Canceling on the day of the trip or failing to show up will result in the full trip cost being charged to your card.
I have chilled bottled water available onboard; please avoid bringing any glass containers. I strongly advise against bringing bananas on the boat, as they are considered "bad luck" at sea—better not to tempt fate! Plan your attire for the day accordingly. If it’s cool in the morning, wear a light jacket—you can always remove a layer if you get warm.
Remember the “rule of 10s” when on the water: it’s typically 10 degrees cooler than on land. Additionally, if it’s windy or the boat is moving, it can feel another 10 degrees cooler. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and sunglasses. Keep in mind that since you’re on a boat, your shoes might get wet from sea spray or rough waters, so dress accordingly.
