About Your Guide

Hello, I’m Ryan, the owner and lead guide here. Fishing has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can recall. I spent my childhood fishing for bream and bass alongside my dad and grandfather, but it was trout that truly stole my heart early on. The mist rising off the chilly water at dawn, the vivid hues of a wild trout in the net, and the soothing flow of the fly line as it unfurls over the current all hooked me deeply. I have been fly fishing and crafting flies for more than two decades and have been tying flies professionally throughout this time. Guiding started as a side activity, assisting friends with trips on the Little Red River near Heber Springs. Quickly, I discovered how much I enjoyed teaching others—whether helping a beginner land their first cast or refining more advanced techniques with seasoned anglers.

Now, I am dedicated full-time to guiding and fly tying, eager to share my passion for the water and the fish below its surface. I take pride in explaining everything from the fundamentals of casting to more intricate skills such as interpreting water currents, matching the hatch, or mastering the mid-cast mend. Every outing is tailored to your goals for the day. Whether you're introducing a young family member to their first trout, aiming to land numerous beautiful fish, or pursuing a trophy brown trout, my mission is straightforward: to provide an unforgettable experience on the Beaver Tailwater that leaves you eager for your next adventure before this one concludes.

Ryan was an exceptional guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. We had a fantastic day fishing the White River near Beaver, and I look forward to another trip with Ryan the next time I’m in the area.

Hi, I’m Ryan—owner and Head Guide of this operation. Fishing has been woven into my life since birth, thanks to a family that loved the outdoors. I started fishing alongside my dad and grandfather as a toddler, mostly chasing bream and bass. But it was trout that truly captivated me early on.

The mist rising off cold river waters at dawn, the brilliance of vibrant fish, and the artistry of fly casting with the line gliding over shimmering currents hooked me completely. I’ve been fly fishing and tying flies for around 20 years, continuing to craft flies professionally ever since.

My guiding journey began as a side gig before side hustles became popular, helping friends guide larger groups on the Little Red River near Heber Springs, Arkansas. I loved teaching newcomers the fundamentals while also sharing advanced techniques with more experienced anglers. Life’s demands eventually shifted my attention, but the passion for guiding never faded. That passion has brought me here today.

Now, I’m fully dedicated to guiding and fly tying, fulfilling a lifelong dream of sharing my love for the water and its amazing inhabitants with others. I’m passionate about teaching all skill levels—whether it’s mastering casting basics or diving deeper into fly fishing strategies. We can focus on hatch matching, streamer stripping, or perfecting a mend mid-roll cast—always with encouragement and no judgment, just opportunity.

My goal is to tailor your experience to meet your fishing aspirations. Whether it’s helping a child land their first trout or leading a precision-focused “zero or hero” trip targeting trophy browns, I’m committed to creating the adventure you seek. From catching plenty of colorful trout to aiming for that elusive big brownie, I’m here to deliver the unforgettable fishing trip you deserve.
